Talking about many of the control panel settings etc. One criticism I have of Windows 10: it has a lot of fancy looking new GUIs for many elements of the Windows UI, but in many places, when you get right down to it, the old Windows 7 GUIs still exist. I think that most of us have made ourselves clear - those kinds of UIs are fine for mobile devices and tablets, but we don't want them on our productivity desktops. 8 felt like Microsoft was trying to shove touch screen and tablet / phone UIs down my throat. I still think 8 was a terrible design choice. Professional is for SMB who don't want/need a VL agreement, but need AD. This is a brand new copier they just produced and the techs are scrambling to find work-arounds because SMB shares can no longer authenticate. Hell, I just worked on an office today using a Ricoh Aficio and it doesnt do scan to pc any more because NTLMv1 is no longer supported. It negatively impacted their businesses due to downtime, compatibility and other problems. Sorry, I've spent the past three weeks ripping windows 10 off of people that got duped into installing it. That's the point of having a "professional" version, right? Kinda like 7 home had media center and the pro version didnt (by default). I fully expected to be able to strip out things like the xbox services from my Pro version or not even have frills and fluff of the home edition. 10 pro and 10 home are no different from each other (currently) with the exception of a set of registry keys that allow me to install management tools and set policies. I'm getting quite agitated with the fact that although 10 is a "free" update, its incomplete. Thx in advance.Ĭhris, while I am also in this same boat. Was there any particular site or bits of info that helped you specifically? I know Microsoft has updated a bunch of TechNet info on Windows 10 deployment, just curious to see what has been useful for you. I don't think you were alone on ranting about the changes that were introduced with Windows 10. Glad to hear that you're doing better with Windows 10. I do hope powershell and experimentation do not frighten you. Any ideas on how to get rid of Cortana? All I was able to do was hide her.YES! As a matter of fact, I've been lurking another set of forums that have managed to strip windows 10 back down to nothing but a shell. Should have done my reading before I started the first install. O&O ShutUp10 presents you with all essential settings to help achieve this in one location – you need no previous IT knowledge, and there is no need to change the Windows 10 system settings manually. Not to totes go Tin-Foil hat, but 10 is doing more "call home" than you realize.īeing the MS Windows nerd that I am (still have my windows Bible) 99% of the info came from MS TechNet. Your privacy should be up to you and not anyone else.
